in philanthropic parties

6 APR 2005  •  by Eric Weddle
Mainstream news coverage may have cooled on tsunami devastation, but funds are still needed. Raleigh-based groups Band Together NC and Stop Hunger know this and are in the throes of raising $200,000 in April for relief efforts; and what better way than throwing a block party with Junior Brown's guitar flare-ups and the country swagger of Cracker. Lauded guitar maestro Brown, who wields his custom lap-steel and guitar fusion, and Cracker's rowdy roots tuneage will easily rouse the crowd Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. outside Raleigh's Capital Fitness, in the 500 block of North Street. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day of show. There's more info at www.bandtogethernc.org.
