Editor’s Note: This year, Best of the Triangle voters had the chance to leave a comment as to why they voted for who they voted for. Below are some of those comments, and lotsa love for local businesses.

88.1 WKNC is CONSTANTLY playing new songs the vast majority of which I end up loving! All of the other radio stations are tantamount to broken records.

Ninth Street Dance is a wonderful studio that caters to all people regardless of age, shape or activity level. There is no pretense or pressure!

Galaxy Cinema is the best place to watch independent movies, plus they have the best popcorn in town. Natural Body Spa best massage (thank you for 10% discount for gym members). Ambiente Modern Furniture most of my furniture is pretty traditional, but I keep visiting them to find modern accessories for my home.

Acme Food and Beverage Co. came up a lot, I notice. They absolutely rule. Local ingredients, homemade donuts, great Sunday Bloody Marys, c’mon! And Orange County Social Club, wow. Greatest bar in the Triangle. For a Chapel Hill resident, I sure spend a lot of time in Carrboro. And there could absolutely be a local TV station line item on the survey so I could write in The Peoples Channel and Durham Community Media!

Best bartender for making cosmopolitans (as well as other drinks) is Irregardless Cafe. You might not think of it as a place for fabulous mixed drinks since their food is so eclectic and original and delicious, but give it a try. Forget the sickly sweet cosmos you get everywhere else, these are smooth and perfect!

I love O2 Fitness because it is a different environment from your normal gym. It has a refreshing feel to it. The equipment is in wonderful shape and the staff is really nice and outgoing. The facility is always in immaculate shape. They have several locations to choose from which makes it very convenient and by far the best gym in the Triangle.

I think Chubby’s Tacos may be one of the best things to happen in the Triangle in a long time. They’ve taken the taqueria up a notch or two, and their imaginative salsas are to die for especially the guacatillo! Why someone else didn’t come up with that sooner, I’ll never know. YUM!

I voted DJ Ones for best DJ in the Triangle because if Bob and the Showgram’s racist, misogynist, moronic bullshit wins again I will lose all faith in humanity.

I voted for Miles Murray from Open Eye Cafe for best barista. I honestly have never seen someone so loyal to his art and oozed the love of his job through his wonderful drinks. He is very gracious, loves what he does and makes sure every drink is perfect before giving it to a customer. My personal favorite drink from him is his cappuccino.

I’m so glad to have Kitty Kinnin (100.7 The River) back on the airwaves. She does such a fantastic job and her knowledge of music is unparalleled. Her Sunday Brunch is so original and by far the best thing on the radio, period.

Jesters located in Chapel Hill, Meadowmont, has the best selection of gifts! Within a few minutes you can come out with the perfect gift that is beautifully wrapped.

NOFO and Twisted Fork are two of my favorite casual restaurants! We have always had great service and excellent food!

Neal’s Deli is our favorite place to get either breakfast biscuits (the best we have ever had, by far!) or a sandwich for lunch. The quality and wonderful combinations make this a “must do” at least once a week.

PlayMakers Repertory Company is an absolute gem professional, affordable, an intimate venue. Great actors, lots of fun. How lucky we are to have them!

SWASO is the best band you’ve never heard of. And it’s not often that I will dangle a preposition…

Busy Bee Cafe hasn’t been around for long but is a great place to hang out, grab a beer, go on a date or take your mom to lunch. Guglhupf is another unappreciated gem. It has it all great food, great baked goods, great outdoor and indoor seating.

The new art gallery in Chapel Hill is The FRANK … wonderful art collective.

Peppers Market & Sandwich Shop is brand new in Morrisville. They have amazing food that is all local ingredients. The chef is super nice and will pretty much make anything you want. Superb!!!
