Head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils will be the top seed in the NIT Tip-Off set to begin Nov. 16, the NIT selection committee chair announced Wednesday.
Duke, who has participated in the tournament five previous times, winning three tournaments in 1985, 2000 and 2005, will open against Coastal Carolina before playing the winner of Charlotte and Elon in the second round.

UConn, LSU and Arizona State will each host one of the remaining regions in the NIT, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the event this November.
If the Blue Devils, who enter the tournament with a 16-2 mark in the previous five outings, win the first two games, a likely matchup in Madison Square Garden against familiar foe Herb Sendek could be in store.
Sendek coached N.C. State for 10 seasons before leaving to coach the Sun Devils, who need only to muster wins against Texas State and the winner of TCU and Cal State Northridge to reach the Garden.
Nothing would irk Wolfpack fans more than if Sendek bests the Blue Devils at his new school after struggling to beat them while coaching in the ACC. Sendek compiled a 17-54 record against Duke, UNC and Wake Forest while coaching the Wolfpack.
The 25th NIT Tip-Off features tough competition for the Blue Devils. The Sun Devils finished the 2008-09 season ranked No. 19, UConn reached the Final Four and LSU came the closest to knocking off the eventual champion Tar Heels in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Duke will play the first and second round games in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
