Matt Joyce, Alvin Colina and Chris Richard all homered in the Durham Bulls’ seven-run seventh inning in an 11-3 romp at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday night.
And it was a good night overall for the Triangle’s minor-league clubs, as the Carolina Mudcats used one big inning to top Jacksonville 3-1.
Both teams won for the second straight night.
Durham begins a four-game series at Syracuse on Friday night, while the Mudcats will play the final game of their five-game set against the Suns.
Bulls 11, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 3
Colina went 4-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Bulls’ 19-hit attack.
Richard also doubled and singled for three RBI, while Joyce added a single and finished with five RBI. J.J. Furmaniak added three hits for Durham, which won five of eight in the completed season series.
Carlos Hernandez (4-3) was the winning pitcher, while Tim Redding (0-1) took the loss.
Reid Gorecki tripled and singled with an RBI for the Yankees.
Mudcats 3, Jacksonville 1
Sean Danielson doubled and singled to lead a nine-hit attack as the Mudcats defined a team effort in defeating the Suns.
Dave Sappelt added three hits while Jake Kahaulelio chipped in two with an RBI and Mike Costanzo a two-run single for the Mudcats, who scored all their runs in the fifth inning.
Lee Tabor (1-0) was the winning pitcher in relief, with Jordan Smith collecting his ninth save. Steven Cishek (1-1) took the loss.
