It was yet another rough night on the road for the Triangle’s minor-league baseball teams on Saturday.
The Durham Bulls opened their four-game series at Rochester with a 1-0 loss, the Bulls’ third straight defeat.
Meanwhile the Carolina Mudcats fell 8-5 at Mobile, dropping the decision to the Bay Bears one night after ending an 11-game losing streak.
The Bulls will play the second game of the series at Rochester Sunday afternoon, while the Mudcats will play the fourth of their five-game series at Mobile Sunday night.
Richard De Los Santos was solid in his first Triple-A start, but he didn’t get much offensive support in the one-run defeat.
Rochester scored its run when Dustin Martin reached on a one-out fielder’s-choice ball with the bases loaded in the first.
Matt Fox (2-0) was the winner for Rochester.
Bulls outfielder Justin Ruggiano saw his 15-game hitting streak come to an end. Elliot Johnson led the Bulls’ offense with a single and a stolen base.
Ed Easley had a solo homer and six BayBears chipped in multiple-hit games in a 14-hit attack.
Pat McAnaney (1-2) was the winning pitcher while Tom Cochran (2-1) suffered the loss.
Eric Eymann led the Mudcats with two hits including a double with an RBI.
