N.C. Central continued its hot streak in women’s basketball, topping Savannah State 50-46 in an afternoon game at McDougald-McLendon Gym.

Blaire Houston (pictured) and freshman Joanna Miller scored 15 points each to lead the Eagles (6-11), who have won six of their last eight games including four straight. Latoya Bennett added nine points with 14 rebounds for NCCU, while J’Mia Pollock, who did not score, had 10 rebounds.

Courtney Long had 13 points to lead Savannah State (8-14), which lost its 10th straight game.

NCCU led 34-22 at halftime and never trailed, foiling an SSU comeback despite shooting 22.2 percent in the second half.

The Eagles’ next game is on Friday night at UNC Asheville.
