Friday night didn’t get off on the right foot for the Carolina Mudcats, but by the time the crowd of 4,754 was enjoying the post-game fireworks the home team was in a happy clubhouse.

Jake Kahaulelio’s two-run double in the seventh inning was the winning hit, as the Mudcats came back to beat the Chattanooga Mudcats 9-7 and win for the second time in three games in their current five-game series.
To win the Mudcats had to recover from a 5-1 deficit, their largest successful comeback of the season, and what made it especially sweet was that it followed on the heels of a tough 6-5 loss in 11 innings in the completion of a game that had been suspended with the score 5-5 after 10 innings late Thursday night.
The Mudcats banged out eight extra-base hits in the regularly scheduled game, sparked by the double and a solo homer from Kahaulelio and two homers for three RBI from Eric Eymann.
Jerry Gil (1-0) collected the victory in relief while Philippe Valiquette picked up his second save for Carolina.
