Carolina defeated the Lookouts for the fifth straight time, foiling a ninth-inning rally for a 6-3 victory on the road.

Meanwhile the Durham Bulls may have gotten a reprieve from the rain, as their series finale against the Toledo Mud Hens was canceled and the Bulls will come home on a five-game losing streak.

The Bulls will open a four-game series against the Pawtucket Red Sox tonight, in the Boston Red Sox affiliate’s only visit to Durham Bulls Athletic Park this season.

Mudcats 6, Chattanooga 3

Matt Klinker had a seven-inning quality start for the Mudcats, who moved to within two games of .500 with the win.

Klinker (4-3) allowed five hits and an unearned run while striking out seven against three walks.

Jake Kahaulelio had a pair of hits for two RBI for Carolina, while Dave Sappelt chipped in a two-run double.

Jordan Smith earned his sixth save of the season as John Koronka (0-3) took the loss.
