The Carolina Mudcats’ recent misery came to an end Saturday night.

Devin Mesoraco led off the 11th with a homer to left field, giving the Mudcats a 6-5 victory over the Huntsville Stars and ending their seven-game losing streak.
The Mudcats set up Mesoraco’s extra-inning heroics with a run in the ninth, as Dave Sappelt singled and then scored on Jose Castro’s one-out single.
Mesoraco had three hits as did Sappelt, who added a triple and an RBI in Carolina’s nine-hit attack. Castro finished with two RBI.
Jeremy Horst (2-2) was the winning pitcher while Jim Henderson (2-1) suffered the loss.
