But they ended up with the same result.

Scott Carroll pitched a complete game, but it all went for naught as the Mudcats fell to 0-3 in the second half of their Southern League schedule in a 2-1 road loss to the Tennessee Smokies.

Meanwhile the Bulls fell victim to a 9-1 drubbing at Indianapolis.

The Bulls will return home Friday night against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, while the Mudcats will have three more at Tennessee before coming home on Monday against the Jacksonville Suns.

Indianapolis 9, Bulls 1
Charlie Morton fired a two-hitter for the Indians in the easy win at Victory Field.

Brandon Moss had a homer and a single for four RBI for Indianapolis.

The Bulls got their only run in the third on a Desmond Jennings single.

Aneury Rodriguez (3-5) took the loss.

Tennessee 2, Mudcats 1
Russ Canzler’s solo homer with two out in the seventh gave the Smokies their winning run, handing the victory to Jake Muyco (2-2).

Carroll (1-3) went eight innings and allowed the two runs on six hits, striking out two with one walk.

Eric Eymann led the Mudcats’ offense with a single and an RBI.
