Travis Webb (6-9) took the loss despite a quality start, going six innings and allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts against two walks.

Gone to help the Bats in their playoff chase are outfielder Luis Terrero, infielder Mike Constanzo and left-hander Joe Krebs. Right-hander Daryl Thompson was activated from the disabled list while outfielder Kyle Day and infielder Shane Carlson joined the team from Lynchburg.

In other Mudcats news, outfielder Dave Sappelt — who has already been with Louisville — is has been named the Southern League’s most valuable player and Tom Cochran its best left-handed pitcher.

The series finale is Thursday night, with the Mudcats returning home Friday for the opener of their season-ending four-game series against the Tennessee Smokies.
