Last December, beloved Raleigh indie bookstore Quail Ridge Books announced it would be leaving its location in the Ridgewood Shopping Center. Since then, the shop has been in a temporary space, endearingly known as Quail Ridge Books on the Fly, at 4381-105 Lassiter at North Hills Ave. In a few weeks, though, Quail Ridge Books will hold its grand opening at its new, nine-thousand-square-foot location just down the way, at 4209-100 Lassiter Mill Road.
Yes, there will be a party. It will be held July 23 and 24, and, according to a release from the bookstore, will be “complete with games, prizes and special author events.” Children’s author Sheila Turnage will also be on hand to “give fans the latest news from Tupelo Landing, the NC fictional setting for her beloved Mo & Dale Mysteries,” according to the release. You’re encouraged to check Quail Ridge Books’ site for updates and details on that.
The new space will also have an area dedicated to founder Nancy Olson, who passed away in March. (Read Zack Smith’s remembrance here.)
If you simply cannot wait until July 23 to view the new QRB, author Elizabeth George will christen the space on July 18, when she reads from her latest, A Banquet of Consequences. The fun begins at 7 p.m.
