The Carolina Mudcats are off the schneid.

Dave Sappelt homered, tripled and singled for three RBI while Kris Negron homered and doubled for four, leading the Mudcats to an 11-4 road rout of the Tennessee Smokies on Friday night.

The victory ended Carolina’s five-game losing streak and gave the Mudcats a 1-3 record in the second half.

Ace lefty Tom Cochran (4-3), who went five innings and allowed a run on six hits with four strikeouts against a walk, was the beneficiary. Chris Carpenter (5-3) took the loss for the Smokies.

Five Mudcats had multiple-hit games in the 13-hit attack.

Josh Vitters homered and doubled for two RBI to lead Tennessee at the plate, while Tony Thomas homered and singled.

The Mudcats return home Monday night against the Jacksonville Suns.
