Ryan Shealy’s grand slam in the sixth inning made all the difference for the Durham Bulls, as they beat the homestanding Columbus Clippers 7-3 for their fourth straight win.
Shealy has homered in two straight games and four of the last five.
It was the Bulls’ first game this season without the services of major-league veteran Hank Blalock, who was recalled to Tampa Bay earlier Saturday. Justin Ruggiano was reactivated from the disabled list to take his place in the lineup.
Joe Dillon added two hits and an RBI for Durham to help Heath Phillips (3-3) claim the victory.
Jerad Head homered and singled for Columbus. Carlos Carrasco (2-2) took the loss.
