Carolina Mudcats’ right-hand pitcher Dallas Buck will start on the road against the Mississippi Braves on Thursday, opening day of the 2009 season.
Buck, a former standout at Oregon State University, underwent Tommy John surgery on his elbow last year. He pitched five innings in a 12-4 win over the Reds in an exhibition game last Friday night.
He was selected in the third round of the 2006 first-year player draft, and traded to the Reds’ organization last year from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
