Jose Lobaton had a solo homer and an RBI single during a seven-run fifth inning, and the Durham Bulls rolled to a 12-3 victory over the homestanding Syracuse Chiefs in the finale of their four-game series on Monday night.

But things again didn’t go well for the Carolina Mudcats, as dropped a 3-0 road decision to the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Following an errorless eight-game road trip on which they went 6-2, the Bulls return home Tuesday night for the opener of a four-game series against Buffalo that will be the Bisons’ only visit to Durham this regular season.

The Mudcats, who are on a four-game losing streak, have two more games at Chattanooga before returning home Thursday to take on the Huntsville Stars.

Bulls 12, Syracuse 3
Richard De Los Santos (5-2) was the winning pitcher, the beneficiary of a 12-hit attack that dropped the loss on Erik Arnesen (0-2).

Chris Richard homered and singled for the Bulls.

Desmond Jennings had three hits including a three-run double, while Angel Chavez added a three-run double of his own.

Chattanooga 3, Mudcats 0
Corey Smith doubled and singled with an RBI to lead the Lookouts to win their third straight game against the Mudcats and thus the series.

Each team had just four hits in a solid pitchers’ duel. Tim Sexton (3-5) got the win while Kenley Jansen recorded his second save. Scott Carroll (1-2) went seven innings without allowing an earned run in the loss.

Jake Kahaulelio doubled and singled to lead Carolina.
