Monday just wasn’t a good day for the Tar Heels.

Early in the day the UNC women’s basketball team fell out of the AP Top 25 for the first time in 163 weeks.

The Tar Heels were 26th in the voting. And when they played at Virginia – which was 27th in the votes – things got tougher in an 82-78 double-overtime loss.

Monica Wright led Virginia (19-6, 8-3) with 33 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Ariana Moorer with 10 points. Telia McCall had 20 rebounds for Virginia.

Italee Lucas (pictured) paced the Tar Heels (16-8, 4-6) with 27 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Cetera DeGraffenreid with 21 points and 12 assists. Chay Shegog added 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Tierra Ruffin-Pratt also had 10 boards.
