Thursday turned out to be a very good night for N.C. State and a nightmare for Duke in women’s basketball.
Bonae Holston poured in 20 points and 11 rebounds, leading five Wolfpack players in double figures as it snapped an eight-game ACC losing streak with an 81-65 win at Virginia Tech.

Meanwhile the No. 7 Blue Devils got slapped pretty hard, falling 69-47 at No. 16 Maryland as the Terps evened the season series.
N.C. State 81, Virginia Tech 65Amber White and Marissa Kastanek chipped in 17 points apiece for the Wolfpack (11-15, 2-9 ACC), which led the Hokies 34-31 at halftime.
Kody Burke added 11 points and Brittany Strachan 10 for NCSU.
Monet Tellier had 23 points but was the only player in double figures for the Hokies (11-15, 1-10), who fell into sole possession of last place in the ACC.
Virginia Tech visits Duke on Sunday at noon. State will host UNC on Monday night at 7.
