Led by 18 points from Bonae Holston, the Wolfpack was in control the whole way in a 73-57 romp at Illinois.
The victory broke a two-game losing streak for the Wolfpack (4-4), while Illinois lost its third straight and fell to 3-5.
The Challenge concludes Thursday night with both UNC and Duke in action.
The No. 14 Tar Heels (7-0) will square off with No. 18 Iowa at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Arena, while the No. 5 Blue Devils (7-0) will visit Wisconsin (2-5).
State’s biggest lead over the Illini was 61-30 following a Breezy Williams layup with 13:37 to play.
Marissa Kastanek added 15 points for the Wolfpack, followed by freshman Kody Burke with 13 and Amber White with 11.
Karisma Penn had 12 points, and Centrese McGee 10 for the Illini.
The Wolfpack will host Southern California on Sunday at 2.
