It’s that time again, folks, for the
Eighth Annual Independent Weekly poetry contest.
The preliminary details: Contestants must reside in Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Johnston, Orange or Wake counties, or be full-time students at a Triangle college or university.
Poets who have published a full-length collection of their works, or had a collection accepted by a publisher, are ineligible. Employees of Carolina Independent Publications and contributors to The Independent are also ineligible,
as are relatives and partners of any employee of
Carolina Independent Publications.
One auspicious first-place winner will receive $500 cash; three runners-up will receive $200 cash.
The four winning poets will also be profiled in
The Independent and honored with a reading
and reception at a local bookstore.
