Cooper, Fletcher, Hunter and Stark
So & So Books 704 N. Person Street, Raleigh, North Carolina 27604
In last week’s issue, the INDY highlighted Duke’s Little Corner Reading Series and the women who run it. Now one of them, Jessica Q. Stark, is getting off-campus—out of Durham, in fact—for a reading at Raleigh’s So & So Books, though it is not part of the long-running So & So Reading Series, which takes place at CAM Raleigh. (Simple, right?) Instead, this is a release party for Durham poet Joanna Penn Cooper’s two recent chapbooks, When We Were Fearsome (Ethel Zine) and Mud Woman (dancing girl press, with Rebecca Bratten Weiss). Cooper and Stark will be joined by prolific Durham reader Lauren Hunter (Human Achievements) and Joe Fletcher, author of recent book The Hatch, who holds the enviable title of managing editor of The William Blake Archive. Close out 2018 the right way—that is, by attending the abundant assortment of local poetry readings on offer this December. —Sarah Edwards
