Dorianne Laux and Joseph Millar
to
Regulator Bookshop 720 Ninth St, Durham, North Carolina 27705
Poet Dorianne Laux has written that she loves writing that is “filled with the gristle of living,” and this gristle is evident in the poetry, deeply felt and born of a deep witnessing of the world, that both she and her husband, Joseph Millar, write. The two come together—along with Celeste Doaks and Arielle Hebert, two of their N.C. State MFA poetry students—in The Regulator’s reading series on Thursday. Millar is the author of four books of poetry, including Overtime, a finalist for the 2001 Oregon Book Award, and has won fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the NEA. Laux is a Pushcart recipient and the author of five collections of poetry; her most recent release, The Book of Men, was awarded the Paterson Prize. A future evening of poetry, held November 15, will feature readings by the poets Ross White, Tina Barr, and Tony Reevy.
