knives of spain is 21st-century trobairitz music from Gwen Young, whose sonic terrain spans delicate song craft to opaque experimentation. Since its inception, knives of spain has been a solo venture; Gwen performs all parts (electro-classical guitar, accordion, Crumar analog synths, flute, bansuri, broken autoharp, percussion, violin, Max/MSP, original recordings, words and voice) and presents multi-instrumental live sets in the tradition of electroacoustic performance. Her sound is described by Lost in a Sea of Sound as "a specially warped version of pop music, achieved from being baked in a kiln fired by ghostly spirits."

Spookstina is an experimental and experiential sound artist. Her pieces are an exercise in creating and decaying empathic drone; an exploration of impermanence. Improvised layers built in real-time from fragments of found sound, metal hardware, tiny toys, aural loops and bass & synth pulses. Spookstina has toured across the US and Mexico and currently resides in Raleigh, NC.
