Local Band Local Beer: Disqo Volante, Treee City

This week’s Local Band Local Beer is a strong electronic triple-hitter, headlined by Washington, D.C.-via-Seoul’s Disqo Volante. Existing in the node between dreamy club music and the free eclecticism of a jazz/neo-soul innovator like Robert Glasper, his Yellow Fervor EP from earlier this year crisscrosses a number of styles that caress and bruise with equal measure. The bill also features Durham’s Treee City, who usually sails through equally varied blissed-out beat environments. His excellent single, “Tidal Wave,” with area rapper Ace Henderson from earlier this year, is a late-night cruise on back country roads,drenched in humid atmosphere and melting jazz keys.
