I didn’t know George was going to be the one for me.
About a week ago, I was looking at the pictures our photographer had taken for this issue. George the kitten was pretty darn cute, and he was up for adoption at AniMall through a local rescue group. Great! I thought. We’d get him in the issue and help get him adopted.
As we were going to print, I e-mailed Palisades Animal Rescue (www.petfinder.org/shelters/NC337.html) to see if George was still available. He is, but you lost the upper hand when they told me “he purrs so hard his little feet shake.”
Go ahead, put in your application. Just know mine was in on Monday.
If you too are looking to adopt, read Greg Margolis’ story about AniMall. If you already have a petespecially a young and energetic dogfind out what macabre ability Cat Warren is training her German shepherd Solo to develop. If your pet spends time in the yard, you’ll want to read Sue Sturgis’ story to learn about the alarming toxicity of the supposedly safe pesticide Sevin. And don’t miss our selected readers’ stories about their pets.
Finally, if you want to foster or adopt a furry friend, check out the one-stop resource for the Triangle: www.trianglepetrescue.org.
But remember: I’ve got dibs on George!
