I’m fucking collaged
As a member of the Scene of the Crime Rovers, I was thrilled to see our band on the cover of The Year in Music issue (Dec. 16, 2009). Thank you for including us.
However, I was disappointed that the cover art featured a button saying “I’m Fucking Metal” right over the chest of the large and very recognizable photo of me. Many people involved with local music have professional careers. And some of us simply cannot risk the possibility that an image like this might be misinterpreted to mean that the person in the picture was actually wearing that button. Did you consider that the woman in the picture could be an attorney? An elementary school teacher?
By using my photo in this way, the Independent willfully ignored any consequences I might experience when this image is seen by tens of thousands of people across the Triangle.
