Gone are the stuffy galleries and intimidating boutiques, at least for the time being. For 11 hours this Saturday, shopping for art will become a lot more fun, much more fair and unmistakably flea. The Green House Art Collective presents its first-ever Art Flea Market, a refreshingly festival approach to buying, selling and trading all things art, flea market-style. Vendor spaces are available for $5 (supply your own table, folks), but the art explosion goes beyond price tags and haggling. Lots of artist studios will be open, there’ll be food for thought and stomachs, and the rollicking art of good old live music will be supplied by Ryantown, Rancho Relaxo, Chrimas, Danny from Mothlight and Eddie from Utah. The market is July 12, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., in Raleigh at 1 Ashe Avenue (next to the IHOP off Hillsborough). Call 601-3131 for vendor details.
