Oh, you still need proof there’s a vibrant hip-hop scene in your own backyard? Silly, go to The Pour House in Raleigh Thursday for the first in a month-long series of three beat battles. It’s one beat versus another as producers square up and see whose stuff gets the people the most piqued. The Pour House isn’t generally regarded as a hip-hop club, but its all-inclusive stance has fostered a strong relationship with 21st Records, the local label responsible for these battles and a constant supply of emcee battles and hip-hop showcases in the Triangle. The second round of the battle happens Dec. 22, followed by the ultimate “Superbeat I” on Dec. 29. For more, see www.21strecords.com or www.the-pour-house.com. Tickets are $7, and the beats drop at 11 p.m.
