IIIrd Tyme Out, performing in Garner on Saturday, Nov. 16, stands at the top of their profession, clearly one of a small handful of the most popular and respected bluegrass bands. Alan Stoker of the Country Music Foundation named their 1996 gospel offering, Living on the Other Side, one of the five best country albums of the entire 20th century! IIIrd Tyme Out has won so many IBMA awards, they’ve probably lost count. They even earned standing ovations on the Grand Ole Opry. This year marks the 12th season of IIIrd Tyme Out, for whom Cary native Steve Dilling plays banjo, and they just keep getting better. Two of the area’s top bluegrass ensembles, the Grass Cats and the Carolina Road Band, will open the 6:45 p.m. Saturday concert at the Garner Historic Auditorium. Tickets are $18.
