You first heard the term in 2005. This year is the time to get out there and learn the how, what and why of podcasting by checking out the first annual PODCASTERCON, a national conference hosted by local geek Brian Russell (of Audioactivism.org). More than 150 are registered so far, many from out of state, but there’s room for more at Saturday’s free, public event. Sessions range from how-to, equipment and copyright law to issues of free expression and the growing role of women and teens in the podcasting movement. This is a great chance to meet some very cool people: Saturday, Jan. 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 116 Murphey Hall, UNC-Chapel Hill. For more info, see www.podcastercon.org.
