WCOM, Carrboro’s micro-FM powerhouse, is cranking up, and local authors Hal Crowther, Lee Smith, Allan Gurganus, Haven Kimmel, Alan Shapiro and Daniel Wallace are gathering for a fundraiser for the station Monday, Jan. 31 at Panzanella in Carrboro from 6-9 p.m. In addition to the food and the smooth tones of the literary ones, there’ll be music by Tim Smith and Robert Griffin, plus a Clyde Jones critter and Tar Heel tix on the auction block. For a taste of the station, tune to 103.5 FM.
