Francesca’s Filmy Show, Chapel Hill artist Francesca Talenti‘s new show, will be on view at Raleigh’s Design Box for a month beginning this Friday, Nov. 5.

Talenti, whose resume includes Snake Tales, a whimsical feature film shot in Texas while she was teaching at UT-Austin, will be showing more recent films like A Brief History of Voting, Dancing Dog and the exceptional and imaginative series of animations set to verse collectively called Poetry in Motion. Meanwhile, her recent watercolor paintings show an interest in bleeding colors and primitive/naturalistic subjects (including “TK” shown at right), a preoccupation that carries over from the lush psychedelia of The Planets, her marvelous Sundance entry from 2003.

“Francesca’s Filmy Show” opens this Friday at 7 p.m. at Design Box, located at 315 Bloodworth St., Raleigh. The exhibit will remain on view through Dec. 1. Call the gallery at 834-3552 for more information or visit www.designbox.us .
