Bull City HeadquartersArt is a celebration of life and friendship at this benefit for the Safe Passage Foundation, a community of volunteers working to educate and nurture at-risk children working in the Guatemala City garbage dump. This evening’s exhibit features works constructed from wood-stain, floss and photos designed by Midtown Dickens’ Catherine Edgerton (who is also an Indy employee); music by Phil Cook, Django Haskins, Resist Not and Sweater Weather; and a brief presentation about Safe Passage by Cassie Hoffman. Doors open at 7 p.m.; donations encouraged. How, then, did he know to proclaim Sept. 7, 2007, Bombadil Day in Durham, when the band could only claim a decent LP and a few mid-sized tours? Prophecy! Previews of Bombadil’s due-in-April LP, A Buzz, A Buzz, is the sound of a band getting smarter and braver, coming into its playfulness with risky arrangements that pay off. Bombadil Year? We’ll see.
