HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS
FINE BOOKSTORES NEAR YOUThis is the moment for which we’ve been waiting ever since Harry first faced the Dark Lord in J.K. Rowling’s first book. Tonight, bookstores around the world will be celebrating the last midnight release party for Harry Potter’s last adventure. We hear that Market Street Books in Chapel Hill’s Southern Village and the Regulator Bookshop in Durham will throw the most elaborate bashes, but stores all over will celebrate with costume contests, book readings and house sortings. Many stores are offering discounts that end when stores open in the morning, so get those dress robes to the dry cleaners now. Sarah Lupton

DYNAMITE BROTHERS
LOCAL 506When the Brothers (siblings in the kindred spirit sense, at least) broke into song a half-dozen years ago, it was obvious their first blues record was not by goddamn Eric Clapton (no offense). In a coiled-up, compact configuration that could breathe louder by adding congas or horns, they have it all: soulful delivery, intense feeling, a drummer that can negotiate a downbeat, charisma to spare. Their shows have been infrequent of late, so take advantage. With The Needles and Rod Wallace & The Mess. Cover is $5 for the 10 p.m. show. Chris Toenes
