BEN + VESPER
NIGHTLIGHTA new act to the Sounds Familyre stockhouse that includes Danielson and, lately, former 16 Horsepower frontman David Eugene Edwards as Woven Hand, Ben + Vesper Stamper are a married couple from New Jersey. Musically, they’re pleasant foils, he boasting a monolithic baritone (like Michael Gira and Stephin Merritt) that moves in slow, steeled motions against her lithe, gentle warble. They take life’s small thingsfrom trying to pay the light bill up to the joy of expecting a babyand engage them with all-important focus, writing vacuums of pop songs and smartly disguising life’s playfulness in slow motion. Also, Daniel Craig and Joshua Abbott visit from Arkansas, with acoustic guitars in hand. Tickets are $5 for a 10 p.m. start. Grayson Currin
