Nasher Museum AuditoriumPamela Z’s altered vocal constructions owe a debt to the 1970s Kitchen scene of Soho New York, where Meredith Monk and Charlemagne Palestine turned their voices into avant instruments. Similiarly, Z twists air through processors and objects, controlling textures and timing with a synthesizer worn over several muscles. The result is playful and bewitching. Common Ground TheaterOne doesn’t expect to hear the 3/4 timekeeping of the tango out in the woods between Durham and Hillsborough, but that’s what’s happening tonight.
