The 20-member ensemble ALARM WILL SOUND has a rep for performing demanding music with energetic virtuosity. The musicians are artists-in-residence at Dickinson College, and they’re coming down from Pennsylvania to perform a program of contemporary European and American works including John Cale’s “Selections from Kiss,” Aphex Twin’s “Cock/Ver 10” and “Jynweythek Ylow,” Stefan Freund’s “Unremixed,” John Cage’s “0’00” ” and, of course, some Frank Zappa (“Dog Breath Variations/Uncle Meat”). The performance takes place in DUKE’S BALDWIN AUDITORIUM on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15; call 684-4444 or visit www.tickets.duke.edu. Alarm Will Sound will be at Baldwin the afternoon before, too, performing a free concert of new works by Duke graduate composers, including Thom Limbert and Chia-yu Hsu, at 3 p.m.
