Put down the Pottery Barn catalog. We’ve got the real thing right here, with two events this weekend that will turn you on to a centuries-old tradition of art you can afford to give your aunt for Christmas. THE POTTER’S EYE exhibition continues this weekend through March 19 at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh. With carefully selected pieces from the 19th century and a handful of contemporary pieces from the region, this is a rare opportunity to see how the craft has evolved. Tickets are $5, exhibit info and directions are at ncartmuseum.org.

If you’re in the mood to buy, check out the Designer Craftsmen Fair at the state fairgrounds Friday evening through Sunday. More than 100 artists will show clay, metal, wood, fiber and glass works, with jewelry and photography as well. Day passes are $6; weekend passes are $8. Directions and info are at www.carolinadesignercraftsmen.com.
