Christopher England and his traveling entourage of bead manufacturers, collectors and artisans have introduced a new dichotomy of identity: There are Bead People, and then there’s the rest of the world. If you suspect you fall into the former category, check out the Piedmont Intergalactic Bead Show in Mebane, May 31–June 1, for bead identifications, appraisals, bead-making demonstrations, and, of course, beads for sale.

A veritable symposium of bead-mania, vendors such as Treasures of the Coyote Moon, Bearoness of Raleigh, and, our nominal favorite, In-A-Gadda-Da-Beada, will be out and about to wax ecstatic over beads, beads, and, also, beads. 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Mebane Arts & Community Center, 622 Corrigidor Dr., Mebane.
