Winston-Salem writer Kathy Norcross Watts formed a close friendship with North Carolina potter and painter Sid Oakley, and in telling his story she tried to recover a lost part of his childhood. Watts, a 2006 winner of the N.C. Humanities Council’s Linda Flowers Prize, will discuss and sign copies of her book, A Simple Life: A Story of Sid Oakley, Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Regulator Bookshop in Durham (www.regbook.com).
