THE LOST CITY
CAROLINA THEATRE–G. Cabrera Infante may not be quite a household name, but he was one of the most important writers of pre- and post-revolutionary Cuba. Among his books was the modernist Tres Tristes Tigres, which has been (mis)translated as Three Trapped Tigers and is now the basis for a new movie called The Lost City, directed by Andy Garcia. Bill Murray appears as an unnamed writer (Hemingway?), and Dustin Hoffman plays Meyer Lansky. –David Fellerath

Come take a gander at his abstract paintings and multimedia artwork during a reception in honor of his personal collection on display in the Panzanella restaurant. Get there at 5:30 p.m. to get first dibs. –Kathy Justice
