Smoke roils, lights spin and the awesome bass pumps up the volume, while two DJ’s preside over what looks like the arena of certain death. Enter…the B-Boys! Break, The Urban Funk Spectacular touches down this Friday night at Durham’s Civic Center, and from the looks of the preview tape we caught last week, a massive dance show is in the works. The Breakers went from old-school Car Wash pop-and-lock to universal robots out of Rise of the Machines. The sight of five urban ninja duellists, headspinning simultaneously, could conceivably inspire the audience to make some noise. Opening act: that 10-year-old platter prodigy (and DJ Craze’s kid), DJ Double. Starts at 8 p.m.
