They’re back and ready to bring it home as Black History Month draws to a close. The Rock Hill, S.C.-based Together as One Hymn Choir, all three dozen voices, will present a concert of slavery-era songs–the revival music that was the forerunner of traditional gospel. Winner of South Carolina’s Folk Heritage Award, the group, led by Deacon John Henry Walton, offers up two hours of powerful spirituals from 4-6 p.m. at Raleigh’s Baptist Grove Church, 7109 Leesville Road. The event is free. For a sample of the music visit the choir’s Web site, which includes three short videos of a recent performance, at www.hymnchoir.org .
