Asked to describe his music, longtime Chapel Hill resident and Trinidadian Rolly Gray says it’s about diversity. His latest album, his seventh, Lucky 7, is a mix of island styles. “I did some soca, some reggae, all original, and some folk song on there, also some R&B. But not so much soca, more leaning toward R&B. I’m trying to do it more diverse. I’m trying to create my own sound.” This outing is billed as the Reggae All Star Revue and features Gray’s band, Sunfire, as well as Mickey Mills and Steel, Misty, and the girl group, Mended.
