Few pieces bring out the chilling personal realities of conflict like Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem. Written for the 1962 reconsecration of Coventry Cathedral, which was destroyed during the battle of Britain in World War II, the composition is a juxtaposition of a Latin requiem mass and the poetry of Wilfred Owen, a World War I soldier. For this Saturday, April 23 performance at Meymandi Concert Hall, the North Carolina Master Chorale is joined by a 75-piece orchestra including members of the N.C. Symphony and the Raleigh Boychoir. More information and tickets for the 8 p.m. concert are available by calling 856-9700 or visiting ncmasterchorale.org.
