International Festival
Raleigh Convention CenterThe Raleigh tradition heads to the new convention center this year, and hopefully this venue will give it a little more space than the fairgrounds did the last few years. This is one of those events that truly fits the cliché of “fun for the whole family.” There’s music, booths and, above all, food. Play a round of bocce, buy a tribal mask, take in a German dance or just eat your way around the world. The festival runs from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $6 for adults and $15 for a weekend pass; children under 12 get in free. For more information, call 832-4331 or visit www.internationalfestival.org. Zack Smith

It starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free, but advance registration is required. Register online at www.ncartmuseum.org or call 664-6752. (P.S. The Museum reopens and the new building premieres in April 2010. The museum park remains open during daylight hours.) Belem Destefani
