Raleigh Convention CenterThe Raleigh tradition heads to the new convention center this year, and hopefully this venue will give it a little more space than the fairgrounds did the last few years. This is one of those events that truly fits the cliché of “fun for the whole family.” There’s music, booths and, above all, food. Play a round of bocce, buy a tribal mask, take in a German dance or just eat your way around the world. The festival runs from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $6 for adults and $15 for a weekend pass; children under 12 get in free. A Night Under the Stars
N.C. Museum of ArtThere are different kinds of stars. There are those who live in LA, where they subdivide into heirarchichal constellationsA-list, B-list, etc. Then there’s the kind that the closed-for-renovations NCMA celebrates with tonight’s stargazing eventthe celestial kindin which the Raleigh Astronomy Club gives visitors a telescopic tour of our solar system.
