Triangle East and West
Jon Shain with Kickin’ Grass/ Big Fat Gap
The Pour House/ The CavePost-America’s day, it’s hard to find something that says “Americana” more than bluegrass. At a 9 p.m. show at Raleigh’s The Pour House for $6-$8, the five-piece Kickin’ Grass holds court, with the strong-voiced frontwoman Lynda Wittig leading to the inevitable Alison Krauss & Union Station comparisons. And at another side of the Triangle, you’ll find the five-or-more-piece (depending on who’s in town) Big Fat Gap at The Cave around 10 p.m. It is a group of youngsters who play like oldsters, and that’s a compliment in the bluegrass world. Jon Shain joins Kickin Grass’ tonight. Rick Cornell
