COMMON GROUND THEATERWith their think-tank spirits ready to go, three Triangle improv groups present the Improv Bender 2, a spree of improv comedy and sequel to last’s March’s Improv Bender. The show features two Raleigh teams, a mix of ComedyWorx and iO South playersTemporary Tag and Big, Fat, and Stealthyas well as an independent team, Four String Samurai, comprised of alums from NYC’s Upright Citizens Brigade, Chicago’s iO Theater and Carrboro’s DSI. Following Friday night’s show City of Medicine, performed by the Carrboro-based improv group Transactors, Improv Bender 2 rounds out a weekend of improv at Common Ground. KWANZAA CELEBRATION
HERB YOUNG COMMUNITY CENTERIn celebration of the African-American holiday Kwanzaa, Cary is hosting the 13th Annual Kwanzaa Celebrationan afternoon of performance, beginning with the Fred Motley Dance Group at 11 a.m. and ending with the 20-year-old Fruits of Labor Singing Group at 4:15 p.m. The celebration features keynote speaker Rev. William Barber, President of the North Carolina NAACP. There will also be a community market, as well as a children’s village. The Herb Young Community Center is located at 404 N.
