JAWS MARATHON
THE RESERVOIRFrom the think-tank of one of Carrboro’s favorite local watering holes, The Reservoir, comes a day of summer fun and feasting at the first Jaws marathon and the Don’t Go Into the Water Cookout. This devilish pairing offers two of summer’s favorite pastimes: sinking your (razor sharp?) teeth into delicious dogs and burgers while watching Spielberg’s Jaws. And if the blood-spewing, teeth-chomping antics of the gigantic mechanical shark in the original doesn’t thrill, you can always stick around for the second and third installments. Don’t go in the water unless you’re diving into the cooler for another brew, ya hear? Doors open at 5, chomps at 6:30 p.m.; carnage rolls shortly thereafter. Kathy Justice

IAN MCLAGAN & THE BUMP BAND
HIDEAWAY BBQIan “Mac” McLagan cut his organ chops in two of the finest British rock ‘n’ roll bands everthe Small Faces and its Rod Stewart-fronted follow-up, the Faces. Since then, he has released six solo albums and performed on albums from the Stones to Springsteen to Westerberg and beyond. For some, the bulk of McLagan’s appeal may lie in his history, but his R&B-rock efforts with the Bump Band are still strong. The Way-Goners open for Mac at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Rich Ivey
