Moore Square Park–If Raleigh Downtown Live were a VH1 series, this would be I Love the ’90s: Part Two. Memorial Day weekend’s season debut starred Lit, that modern rock band with the dude with the three-foot goatee and the song about “kicking the living shit” out of oneself. At least this one stars Arrested Development, the ATL hip-hop collective centered around Speech and his lovable meter. Don’t mind the fact that they haven’t made an album since 1994, and that the openers–Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root and Cowboy Mouth–aren’t very good. Openers 5th Generation and Sam Fisher start it up at 3 p.m. And, unlike VH1, it’s all free.

Beaver Creek Cinema–The success of this summer’s Pixar animation is a foregone conclusion, but nothing has been left to chance. Covering all the demographic bases, the producers of Cars have cast a litany of celebrities, including Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Martin, Larry the Cable Guy, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Richard Petty and, finally, Tom and Ray “Click and Clack” Magliozzi. It’s in theaters (like this new Garner multiplex) everywhere, so you can’t miss it. –David Fellerath
